How to use pinterest group boards to increase your blog traffic dramatically, plus a spreadsheet with 70 groupboards, how to join them, and the pinning rules.

According to hugely successful bloggers, Pinterest is the #1 way to get traffic to your blog.

Joining Pinterest Group Boards in an excellent way to get your content seen by more people. Not only are your pins seen by your followers, but they are seen by everyone in the group board and many of their followers.

Finding group boards is hard. You have to ensure that it is an active board with many collaborators and a high repin ratio. Luckily for you I have made a list of 70 group boards, how to join them, and the pinning rules.

Why is all that important?

Because, most people just pin their newest blog post, but if you were to constantly pin all of your blog content, you would be bringing in more traffic to your blog – old and new content.

Did you know that you can pin the same blog post to a board more than one time? That’s something I just learned recently. You could pin 100+ times to a ton of group boards and get AMPLE exposure for your site.

More pageviews means more readers means more followers means more customers.

How to Take Control of Your Fertility (and Your Life)

This is NOT a sponsored post – I just think this app is the bomb diggity.

Although the study of the human body is classified as a science, there is a lot of guesswork that goes into tracking fertility cycles. Everyone’s body is different and therefore everyone’s fertility cycle varies.

How to track your fertility in order to conceive. How to have a baby. How to be a mom.

While many women are trying their darndest to have a baby, there are also a lot of women out there that are desperately trying not to have a baby.

Luckily for both groups of women, there is an App out there that can change your life.

I have been using the Glow App for about a year and I seriously love it. There are three different settings: avoiding pregnancy, trying to conceive, and fertility treatments.

The app tracks your hormonal cycle so that you know EXACTLY when you will be fertile, after using it for just a couple months.

glow_calendar_view

It starts out using a standard 28-day cycle and then adjusts its algorithm based on your personal cycle. After a month or two, it will be telling you when you’re going to get your period instead of you telling it.

glow_pink_days

It is incredibly difficult to track your personal fertility cycle down to the day of ovulation. Glow tells you your fertility percentage every day – 3% for most of the month, and anything higher than 8% is your fertile window. The highest percentage chance on the day of ovulation is still only 33%.

glow_green_days

glow_blue_days

As women, we have a LOT of stuff to keep up with – work, school, trying to keep hubby happy, feeding the kids we already have – no one has time to track their fertility to try to have (more) kids. Unlike other fertility tracking apps, Glow sends you super helpful notifications.

glow_notifications

If you’re really into your health and trying to be the best you possible, you can complete your daily log by answering a bunch of really personal questions every day and it will track that data for you too.

glow_daily_log

The app also sends you cute little tips and tricks for getting through your period, which I think is really sweet because we could all use a little more support in our lives.

glow_period_tip

I would highly recommend the Glow app to ANYONE looking to conceive or looking to avoid pregnancy

What do you think? Are you going to try it out? Let’s talk about it below!

Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas for Guys (based on the Boyfriend Spectrum)

Valentine's Day Gift Ideas for guys: gift ideas for husbands. gift ideas for fiance. gift ideas for boyfriend. gift ideas for crush. gift ideas for guy friends

This post may contain affiliate links

Ah, Valentine’s Day. Such a sweet day spend with loved ones, only problem being that you’re going to receive a gift, which means that you are expected to give a gift. We’ve already discussed why shopping for guys is so hard, but now we have the added difficulty of giving the appropriate gift for where you are in a relationship.

Relationships today are difficult, and as annoyed as I was every time my mom asked if I was “going steady” with a guy, I wish it was that simple. I wish a guy would give you a letter jacket and that you would just be together, end of discussion.

Today there are like a million and a half relationship statuses. Therefore, I’ve put together a little list of…

Valentine's Day Gift Ideas for guys: gift ideas for husbands. gift ideas for fiance. gift ideas for boyfriend. gift ideas for crush. gift ideas for guy friends

Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas for Guys
(based on the Boyfriend Spectrum)

1. Friend

If you’re really good friends with a guy, you probably want to get him something for the holiday. Tread carefully though – if you get him something too nice, he might think that you have a crush on him (see “Crush”) or it might make him feel bad. On the other side, if you get him something too small and he gets you something nice, the opposite scenario might occur.

Some safe gift ideas for this guy are:

I don’t know why so many of those are Star Wars themed. I guess I’m just assuming that if he’s a friend and not your boyfriend he’s probably a dork. No shame in that though, my boyfriend is a huge dork and I still like him, sometimes.

2. Crush

This one is a little harder. If he is just a crush, I’m assuming that you like him and he doesn’t like you back OR you like him and he doesn’t know. Either way, you need to play it cool, girl. Don’t go and buy him something really expensive and make it awkward for everyone involved. And for the love of all things Holy, do not buy him a stuffed animal. Just don’t. Guys don’t like them. They don’t think their cute. They think you are treating them like a little kid and that it’s weird. Trust.

Gift ideas for your crush are:

Remember. Be cool here. Don’t get your hopes up about any of it. Aim low and avoid disappointment.

3. Guys in the “talking” phase

For my older audience, the “talking” phase of a relationship is where both parties like each other, but they either refuse to admit it, or refuse to make it “official”. It’s silly and is usually caused by a guy who won’t commit or a girl who has been hurt before (probably by a guy who won’t commit).

Some ideas for this guy are:

So, clearly, some of these ideas are kinda passive aggressive. I have a personal disdain for the “talking” phase in a relationship, but sometimes it does transition into a relationship, so you gotta do it I guess.

4. New Boyfriend

Alright you got him to commit, good job. Got to make sure you don’t lose him now. You have to get him something nice enough that he knows you care but also can’t overdo it because it’s really awkward when he gets you a 3D printer and you make him a scrapbook. Again, trust.

The best gifts for new boyfriends are personal and show that you listen when they talk, or whatever…

5. Long-Term Boyfriend

Long-term boyfriends require a lot less stress and effort when buying gifts. You’ve been together long enough that you know what kind of things they appreciate. The issue, though, is that you’ve already bought him so many presents that it can feel like you’re running out of ideas.

6. Fiancé

Congratulations! You’re engaged! Now you’ve really been with this guy for a long time, but don’t worry, there’s still stuff for you to get him, such as:

When I was engaged (yes I was engaged briefly), we were so broke we decided Valentines would be handmade gifts and baked goods only.

7. Husband

The best part about buying gifts for your husband is that you will get to enjoy the gift too! And since you are married, you probably have more money to throw around, and if you’re super lucky it’s his money you’ll be spending. All of that is kind of a joke. Husbands and dads put up with a lot and deserve something really special for Valentine’s Day and if there’s one thing I know about the men in my life it’s that they LOVE new technology.

Well there you have it. Gift ideas for every guy that you may or may not be dating.
I hope you enjoyed this list!!

8 Ways to Save Money on Coffee

This post may contain affiliate links

In my opinion, coffee is 100% necessary for survival. It can turn a groggy-eyed zombie into a normally-functioning human and a normally functioning human into Leslie Knope (from Parks and Rec if anyone is familiar).

The only real downside to coffee is that it costs money and has calories if you choose to accessorize it with cream, sugar, flavors, etc.

But don’t you worry, I have some tips and tricks to help you save some dough on your coffee. I can’t help you with the calories though, but I totally wish I could.

8 Ways to Save Money on Coffee

1. Stop drinking Starbucks

I mean it. You’re basic enough without walking around with that red cup in your hand. Not only did I stop drinking Starbucks, but I stopped drinking coffee anywhere but Dunkin Donuts. Starbucks is completely overpriced and the coffee isn’t even that good. I was going to some small town mom and pop coffee shops too which I have also stopped going to (that I actually do feel really bad about because I love small business and plan to open my own coffee shop some day). No matter how convenient it is, do not go anywhere other than Dunkin. Drive 0.4 miles out of the way in order to get Dunks because the difference in coffee price is bigger than the difference in gas price.

Surprise Calorie-Saving Tip #1: At Dunkin Donuts, flavor swirls have calories whereas flavor shots don’t. Many of the popular flavors are available in both forms so you can save some calories getting a French Vanilla or Caramel Flavor Shot as opposed to the same flavor as a swirl.

2. Sign up for the DD Perks App

Alright, let me real talk you guys for a second about DD Perks. It. Is. A. Lifesaver. Especially if you live in New England. Every time the Patriots win, you can get $0.87 coffee with your DD Perks app. So essentially, the entirety of New England gets $0.87 coffee every Monday from November to February. They don’t only do local deals. They will have specials where certain drinks are half priced after 2PM or you get bonus points if you buy this combination. Once you reach a certain point value, you earn a free beverage. I cashed in a free beverage this morning and it was a delightful feeling. You get free beverages for your birthday and every time you refer a friend. But you have to do it through an email address so I’m not even getting anything for telling you guys about it…

3. Order on the Go

You thought we were done talking about DD Perks? Nah. There’s more. The DD Perks app now lets you Order on the Go which means you put in your order from bed and then click the “I’m ready to pick up” button once you get in your car. Once you get to your favorite Dunkin Donuts, your stuff will already be waiting at the Pickup Location and you can walk straight there and grab it while everyone in line gives you a dirty look. This way you avoid the waiting in line, getting hungrier and hungrier, and deciding to get a couple donuts by the time you get to the register.

Surprise Calorie-Saving Tip #2: The DD Perks app is very good about showing calorie counts for different foods, so by ordering from the app, it will be easier to make a healthy choice than just by what looks healthy in-store.

4. Sign Up for Auto Reload to Your DD Perks Account

For a limited time, those who sign up for an auto reload in their DD perks account get three times the points on purchases, meaning you’re spending the same amount of money but receiving more free coffees. The auto-reload works two ways – you choose whether you want it to reload based on time or based on the balance in your account. If you have it reload once a month for a specific amount, that is your coffee budget for the month and you won’t have to worry about exceeding it. You will just have to go without after that, I suppose. If you limit how much you have to spend, you better bet you’ll be visiting on $0.87 coffee days.

5. Invest in a Good Coffee Machine

I know, I know. It’s counter-intuitive to spend money to save money, but sometimes you have to do it. I just bought this Keurig and I love it. Kcups come in so many different brands and flavors, just like regular coffee without the trouble of having to grind up beans or fumble around with pouring grounds when you wake up and you’re still dreaming about Ryan Reynolds. You can make a single cup as opposed to a whole pot since not everyone in a family likes their coffee to taste like literal dirt (like my dad does with his columbian roast). Kcups are less messy than a wet filter full of grounds and Keurigs are much easier to clean than other coffee makers. I run a container of vinegar through mine just about every other week.

6. Invest in a Coffee Press

“But Blondie, I only like iced coffee, and I don’t want to pour my hot coffee over ice because it will water it down” Okay, zip it. I get it. Some people are iced coffee people. I sure am if the temperature is above 35F. That’s why I invested in a coffee press. Coffee Presses use regular grounds and hot or cold water to make the perfect coffee. You can either use hot water heated in a microwave or tea kettle and let it steep for just about as long as you would tea, or you can use cold water and let it steep overnight.

Surprise Calorie-Saving Tip #3: Cold brewing coffee is said to make it less bitter, so if you were to invest some time and money in cold brewing, you might have to invest less in flavored creamers and sugars.

7. Buy Coffee in Bulk

This is just Shopping 101 if you use a lot of something, you should buy it in bulk or buy greater quantities online. We drink a TON of the Dunkin Donuts Original Blend, so we either buy it from Amazon or convince my dad to take us to BJs with him to get it there, because we can’t afford our own membership right now. When we first bought the house and didn’t have our lives together, we were running to the store like once a week to get kcups and it was so expensive. Bulk is definitely a much better option for coffee-lovers.

8. Invest in a Yeti

I always had a really hard time taking coffee to go because I always find travel mugs to pick up the smell of whatever you put in them. I would have different mugs for different drinks – one for coffee, one for chai tea, one for cocoa and so on. A. that was inefficient and B. it all got ruined the day that my sister put a chai tea in my coffee travel mug. Something about the smell seeping into the plastic turns my stomach, so I was buying travel dixie cups instead. Also expensive and also inefficient. Then one day, the man came home from work with a Yeti for me and my life changed. Now I can take whatever drink I want wherever I want without an issue. I just wash it with baking soda and vinegar once a week when I do the Keurig.

So, there you have it, you guys. 8 ways to save money on coffee.
What do you think? Going to try some of these out? How do you save money on coffee?

Happy Caffeinating and remember Choose Death Before Decaf!!

How to Create an Organized Coffee Station

This post may contain affiliate links.

I spend a lot of time at the coffee station in my house. Whether I am making a coffee for myself or the man, I prefer to do it in an organized environment.

Nobody wants to walk downstairs first thing in the morning and walk into a messy kitchen and sleepily search for their favorite coffee.

Since the move, that has been the story of my life. So, Friday morning, on my day off from work, I decided to kick it into gear and finally set up our coffee station!!

How to create an organized coffee station in your home!! Everything you need to caffeinate in the most efficient, organized, and classy way possible!!

Our Keurig is conveniently located next to the fridge and above the dishwasher. This creates an environment where it is easy to grab the cream from the fridge and put your mug in the dishwasher when you’re done.

How to create an organized coffee station in your home!! Everything you need to caffeinate in the most efficient, organized, and classy way possible!!

Also, since like 83% of the dishes that come out of the dishwasher are mugs, it makes unloading a LOT easier.

Due to the location, there is not ample hidden storage for kcups. Therefore, we decided to go with an out-in-the-open approach. This contraption is actually a fruit basket, with three different compartments, each with different coffees.

How to create an organized coffee station in your home!! Everything you need to caffeinate in the most efficient, organized, and classy way possible!!

The largest section houses the Dunkin Donuts Original Kcups because we drink them most and buy them in bulk.

The medium section is home to a single box of Starbucks Vanilla Flavored Kcups because we got them for Christmas and need to get rid of them so we will give them to unsuspecting guests.

The top tier is filled with Dunkin Donuts Chocolate Glazed Donut Kcups because they are seasonal and on their way out.

The spoon rest was an investment I made after writing this post about gift ideas for cat lovers because I thought it was cute and because I hate that sticky spot on the counter from setting the coffee spoon down.

The mug tree and mugs were actually a hand-me-down gift from my mom but there are similar items on Amazon if you would like to copy this look.

In the interest of full disclosure, the mugs on the tree are only the matching ones. The entire bottom shelf of the cabinet above the coffee maker is full of mismatched mugs such as this one that the man got me for Christmas and this one that I use every monday.

Y’all, 2017 is quickly approaching and I don’t know about you but I’m greatly conflicted.

2016 had it’s ups and downs, but there’s just something that feels so uncertain about entering a new year.

I know we’ve all done it before and that nothing too terrible ever happens, but there is still that little voice in the back of my head telling me that I’m not ready.

  • Comments: Is there anything more classy than an Erin Condren planner? There probably is, somewhere in the world, but for real look at this thing. Not only is it visually pleasing, there are also a TON of customization options – my favorite being the neutral interior option. I’m really into color coding, but I’m not really into when my green (money due) pen clashes with my planners’ color. The neutral option eliminates all of the color-clashing worry. It also offers different layouts, hourly for the time blockers, horizontal for people with weekends as busy as their week days, and vertical for everyone else in the world. Honestly, this planner is the bees knees and I think we all need one like right now.

Also for every one of these planners bought, a tree gets planted through the ONE TREE PLANTED foundation which is pretty cool – that each of us could be responsible for having one more tree in the world!! Much like the Goal Digger Planner, this one also includes space to write dreams, goals and targeted accomplishment dates, the perfect day. This planner is perfect for any college student, blogger, mother, teacher, business woman or any combination of those things!!

10 Organization & Decluttering Tips to Adopt Early in Life: A Guest Post by Heather from Blissful Intent

Something really special is happening today at Blonde Roast by the Coast. We have our first ever guest post written by my friend Heather who blogs over at Blissful Intent. She is a super amazing organizer and budgeter and is going to share some organizing tips with us today!

10 Organization & Decluttering Tips to Adopt Early in Life:
A Guest Post by Heather from Blissful Intent

Do you struggle with keeping your home organized and clutter free?

Do your belongings tend to make their way to a home where they don’t belong?

I remember the college days when I lived in a little apartment and owned very few things.  Now that I’ve grown up a lot, gotten married, bought a home and brought children into the world it seems so much harder to keep things organized.

After years of collecting all the things, I’ve finally come to grips with the reality of adopting new things into my home. Each time I feel like I want to bring something home from the store I ask myself if I want to dedicate the hours required to keep it clean and organized.

Organization and Decluttering tips to adopt early in life so that organization comes more easily later.

If I could go back and tell my younger self a few things it would be these 10 organization ideas:

  1. If you don’t use it for six months donate it.  It’s not worth space in your home.
  2. When your friends ask you to be a part of their wedding see if you can rent your outfit instead of buying it new.  There are plenty of places online now that you can rent from for a fraction of the price.  One example, Rent the Runway. This will save you so much space in your closet down the road.
  3. When you get it out put it away as soon as you’re done with it.
  4. Make a designated place for shoes, bags, coats and umbrellas (if you do not have a mud room).
  5. Store away clothes when it’s not the season to wear them.  This will give you so much more space in your tiny closet! Don’t forget about those nifty under the bed storage solutions.
  6. You don’t need all of those kitchen cooking utensils, but you do need a good coffee pot!
  7. Wipe all of your small appliances down after you use them and store them in the cabinets for more organized countertops.
  8. Invest in nice bins, tubs, storage bags and boxes and a label maker!
  9. Get rid of those magazines when you’re done with them.
  10. Declutter under cabinets and in the junk drawer often. You will be amazed at what you forget about that could save you money!

The habits you form at a younger age tend to stick with you.  If you build good habits early on then you can save yourself hours of time and stress later on down the road.  There isn’t a need to hang onto something you aren’t going to use. The drawers and cabinets in your home are precious real estate. Kick the clutter and unused things to the curb.  You will notice that you are a lot less stressed out when you aren’t surrounded by clutter and constantly cleaning up.

Gift Ideas for Guys

This post may contain affiliate links

Has anyone ever wondered why guys are so ridiculously hard to shop for? Well I think I figured it out:

1. Men value luxury over comfort

They don’t like fuzzy socks or cute festive scarves. They would rather have an Remote Start Kitfor their car or some external Heated Seat Cushion to keep their buns warm.

2. They relax differently than we do

While women relax and unwind with a glass of wine in a bubble bath, men relax by playing horribly violent and loud video games

3. They like useful things

Whereas women value sentiment, men value utility. They want power tools, kevlar gloves, and technology to be mad at.

4. They care more about people they don’t know than people they do

No, lol, I don’t mean they are charitable. I mean that they are more concerned with their college football team than with the fact that your coworker was so mean to you the other day

5. Their sense of pride is damaged by superficial triggers

While women are concerned about hair color, body weight, and having hip and trendy clothes, men are more concerned with having the tallest truck in the land or the flashiest power tools.
